It seemed to keep bugs out although there weren't many of them and at one point one landed right on my sleeve. It has a scent. The ad says it's not, but it is. Although it didn't bother me despite my sensitivity to various chemical smells and headaches. I wore it camping but also wore it in the car for about 3 hours.
