I've been using heli coils for decades. I bought it to fix a hole with no likely expectation of using it again. Anyone capable of repairing damaged threads has also likely experienced drill bits and taps that can easily break in the hole. You have to understand that excellent drills are outrageously expensive. Box drills only serve to make a hole or two in anything other than wood, regardless of the nice finish. Right out of the box the 1/2" bit even broke after I drilled the holes. Then it went in the garbage. Fortunately the chisel failed before it reached any depth. I could pick it out. The tap is designed for light duty applications and the interchangeable threads are for light duty applications. I fixed a hole in an old, almost irreplaceable, water pump on my 1985 Mack truck, which is made of cast iron. I am disgusted with the ROC and the American companies that have gone abroad. They cannot be replaced by higher instruments. A good drill costs as much as the whole kit. Negative stars would be appropriate.
