These were used to install a stand that had a 1/4" and 1/8 to 1/4" U-channel 4 "Welding of steel sheets. I have been using Firepower 6013 rods and switched to them as soon as they ran out. The Forney weld is fine, but doesn't strike the arc as easily and doesn't have the same penetrating bead. Wanted to try these because of the decent reviews but they seem pretty much the same as your average rod. They were brand new, out of the box and shipped the same day I used them. I'm not saying they're bad, it's just that there's nothing special about them. An experienced welder will quickly get used to this, but a beginner will have a little more difficulty striking the arc and it will have spatter.
