Review on 🔧 Mishimoto Rear-Mounted Thermostat Oil Sandwich Plate: Efficient Cooling for Optimal Performance by Sean Spence

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works best in engine cooling and air conditioning systems

Engine oil cooler. 245 degrees Fahrenheit, after installation my maximum oil temp stayed below 215 degrees Fahrenheit under the same conditions Normal driving oil temp is between 180 and 200 degrees Fahrenheit even on the hottest days here (105F+) I never exceed 180F when the outside temp is below 90F I had a 50/50 chance of getting it right but I was wrong. The initial coolant temp rose slightly as hot oil entered the sump cooler on the cold side of the radiator and carried the heat back to the cool end where the coolant didn't have time to cool before returning to the engine igtel. After I did the After changing hoses on the sandwich adapter, the coolant was back to normal, allowing hot oil hitting the hot side of the radiator Allowed the fan to cool the liquids together as they flowed across the width of the cooler. The outlet is the left port and the return is the right port when looking at the ports on the adapter in place if your oil filter is bottom mounted as is common on most vehicles. No ground point for sensors. is also a problem, even though I didn't use thread sealant none of the sensors could provide a signal, I had to add a ground point and after grounding the sensors worked fine. Has a large difference in oil temperature and allows the oil to reach normal operating temperature. .

Pros
  • Two 1/8" NPT (plugged) connections for sensors/oil supply etc.
Cons
  • Drill kit
