Three piece sticks are terrible. After reading the reviews I was determined to bury it safely in the ground. First I drilled a hole about 12 inches wide in the ground. Then I took a stick with a tip and stuck it in the already started hole. This should create enough less drag not to damage the shank and threads. Then I took a piece of wood and laid it down, took a hammer and hammered it into the ground. Then I connected the pieces together. One has been out of service for 2 weeks, the other is going. They simply must not be covered with soil. The threads are too short. With the weight of a full flashlight, the poles cannot support the weight. Considering their cost, it's a design flaw that this company ignores. I had to equip the interior with reinforcement, which again is unacceptable given the cost. They look cool but I won't buy them again. 2 supports failed in less than 3 weeks. Terrible design.
