Piece of Cake to Learn, Lots of Fun!

We picked this up after seeing several TikTok videos recommending it as a good game to play that our kids could pick up. Shifting Stones is one of their favorites! Extremely easy to pick up the rules. Players have to strategize whether to use their cards for points or manipulating ("shifting" if you will) the "stone" tiles on the board. You get 4 cards and you lay the double-sided tiles out randomly in a 3x3 grid. Each card has a picture of layout. If the stones match the layout you can play the card for points, or you can discard a card to make a movement - either swap 2 tiles (horizontally or vertically) or flip a tile over. That's all there is to it! The game goes until a player has played a certain number of cards, then the current round finishes and the game is scored based on the number of points on each card played. High score wins!

Pros
  • Shifting Stones is a must-have for strategy game enthusiasts or families who enjoy playing games together
Cons
  • Requires an overwhelming amount of concentration to play
