Purchased Darkstar Gray which should have a purple base. Applies to 9np/8na hair. The first application was easy and took about 70 minutes (the video says it can run for hours with no issues). Wash off with cold water. The biggest disappointment. The color was inconsistent, some of the threads were colorless and others are best described as BLUE. Not grey, not even purple. GrrrFor the second try, set it on low heat for 15 minutes and then let it sit for another 20 minutes. The color eventually turned gray but with a bluish cast. I would call it Blue Steel before calling it Dark Star Grey. Again, the color is inconsistent. My tips are lighter gray than the roots, which matches hair color 101. The tips are always more porous and greedily attack the paint. Odd.Picture doesn't properly render the blue tones, but you can at least get an idea of how "not dark" it will be after 2 uses (and heating). Unfortunately, I resort to the developer + color method, which has always given consistent results the first time. 3 stars for ease of use (no developer), vegan and not tested on animals.
