Purchased Darkstar Gray which should have a purple base. Applies to 9np/8na hair. The first application was easy and took about 70 minutes (the video says it can run for hours with no issues). This dye is amazing, it gave my level 10 hair a deep smoky purple and washed out to a more natural grey. Definitely more forgiving than amethyst ash as it left me with absolutely no green/turquoise tones. The only downside is that it washes out quickly.

I have natural 'grey' hair (white hair mixed with my faded natural medium ash colour). I have not bleached or altered my natural color. I wanted to leave a review for all gray haired people. Manic Panic dark colors last no more than 2 washes. However, I love that it adds a very subtle tint that often lasts for weeks. I also like that it doesn't damage my hair. Plus, I can leave it on for a few hours and forget about it, and then wash it off when I'm ready. This is a "very gentle" hair color.
