Almost perfect but definitely a keeper

We have a Cherokee Jeep and two dogs that we take everywhere. We take them to the dog park at least once a day. Pros: Easy to install. Durable and high quality material. Protects dogs and you in the event of an accident or when you need to step on the brakes. Dogs don't fly and hit you on the head. Keeps pet hair off the front seat backs (our dogs love to run and rub against the backrest, which causes dog hair to become embedded in the fabric of the car seat). more included on the back Cons: The vent on the center console is now blocked by a firm cloth underneath. This is a problem for those living in warmer climates and transporting their dog to the park after a fun run. Our dogs are always tired and panting after the park and I'm happy to turn on the air conditioning for them. One of her favorite spots is watching the air blowing out of the center console. I'll see if I can use some kind of flexible hose, tie it to the vent somehow, and bend it down and under the screen. If that doesn't help, I can just cut a few slits in the fabric. It's more important that the dogs are cool than that they have a nice screen. If there were some sort of mesh material in the center section, not only would it solve this problem for me, but I'm sure almost everyone who has an SUV or van has vents in the center console. Another minus. Bottom clips are not long enough to secure. The top two clips went around the headrests just fine, but the bottom two are too short. I slightly secured the two bottom pieces around the crossbar which I found by keeping my head on the floor and looking under the seats (make sure you haven't attached these clips to any of the moving parts of the seats), when i found a safe place to mount them, the ends of the clamps were too far apart to connect them. The material is learned in such a way that I simply rewound the clip over and over again. It's not 100% but it works. I've given 5 ratings despite the cons because I've come to the conclusion that nothing is perfect when it comes to dog/car restraints. I've tried using a harness with a harness that attaches to the harness and then hooks into the harness but my dog hates the harness, I don't like wearing it in hot weather (it's soft to protect him but also adds warmth) and even on a hard setting the leash was still too long and my dog was still running around the seats with hair all over the place and smacking us with his nose. All the pros were very important to me and they hit the mark. I just need to figure out the ventilation situation and after a day at the park I'm as happy as my dogs.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Everything is fine
