OEM replacement may be better than original on car

dealer and they cost $135 each. I replaced my front struts and strut mount (this part) at 100,000 miles. Blown suspension strut bearing top right. Rust and binding on the right side (the left side is not far behind). The part replaced was 5F9Z-18183-AG and the part arrived was 5F9Z-18183-BA. Last level details are available and well under half the retail price. My car is a 2005 Ford Freestyle that was released in February 2005. TSB 05-24-4 for FRONT STEERING NOISE PROBLEM: Some 2005 Five Hundred, Freestyle and Montego vehicles built 5/17/2004 through 5/17/2005 may experience front end noise when turning the steering wheel at speeds less than 10 miles per hour (16 km/h). The noise may come from the top post of the rack. This condition does not apply to bump hit noise, full steer noise, or steer noise when the steering wheel is not turning. ACTION: Check the problem. Replace upper strut support/bearing and/or spring as needed. See the following maintenance procedure. SERVICE PROCEDURES On vehicles manufactured 5/17/2004 through 4/28/2005, replace the spring and upper strut support/bearing on the affected side only. On vehicles manufactured from 04/29/2005 to 05/17/2005, only replace the strut support/bearing, on the affected side only.
