Review on 🏁 Enhance Performance with DC Sports Short Ram Intake for 02-04 CRV 2WD by John Maynard

Having had this air intake in service for about 4 months, I can write an honest review about it. Installation was a bit tricky. Revain states that this product is compatible with a 2006 CR-V that I installed it on. Technically, according to the DC Sport website, as well as the accompanying instructions, this air intake is only intended for pre-facelift 2002-2004 CR-Vs. The difference is that Honda switched to electronic drive by wire instead of mechanical throttle for the 05-06 model years. The DBW choke exits the intake manifold at a different angle toward the front of the vehicle than mechanical ones. However, it can still be installed on the CR-V 05-06. You need to correct the angle difference by adjusting the tube in the silicone spacer. Another problem is that the intake mount doesn't line up with the motor mount. However, I found it held up well thanks to the silicone seal and two hoses. To simplify installation, remove the battery and then insert it. This gives you more freedom of movement and adjustment for the handset. However, once you install it and start working, you will definitely notice a change in tone. When you accelerate, your CR-V gets rougher. It definitely got some attention and people are surprised to know it comes from a 4 cylinder Honda. The power gain is probably minimal, maybe 1-2 hp just due to the increased mass of air going into the intake manifold. MPG also received a small hit. Before this intake I was about 20-21, mostly city driving, and after a few intake fills I was about 17-18. It could also simply be because the RPMs are harder to hear. In short, if you want a good SRI for the price that makes your CR-V a little angrier and it's not a shame to lose a few mpg, I would recommend buying this product. That's about half the price of a K&N for the same.
