These were just what I was hoping for. Honestly I wear these as much away from the beach as I do as swim trunks. I am never far from the beach in the summer, living near a large lake, so I never know when I might get hot a divert for a swim. These work great for dual use, especially with the pockets. I consider myself a 32 waist, but based on thesis chart, I ordered a 34, as that was listed as the US medium. These are slightly large on me, a 32 (S) might have fit, but I like the extra room. I would encourage to order based on your waist size, not the size designations
