Maybe it's due to the Fairy Godmother department but I didn't have to do anything complicated to get this cartridge to work in my Brother HL-2220. Inside was a Brother cartridge which I refilled a couple of times and the pages became a bit cloudy. So I took it out and put in a V4INK replacement. I didn't even turn off the printer. Simply open the front door, pull out the "drum", remove the old toner cartridge, insert the new one, put the assembly back into the printer and close the door. V4INK includes illustrated instructions that show this process. After making the changes, I immediately printed 450 pages. Good clean pictures. Text, black, grayscale images look fine. So why didn't I have the expected problems running this app? I won't experiment to find out, but it's possible that my printer is in toner resume mode. This will disable Brother's "Toner Low", "Replace Toner" and "Toner Empty" messages, all annoying things the printer does to trick you into stopping your print jobs. I probably did this when refilling the original Brother cartridge. Now it works great and I don't want to mess with it and risk messing it up. There doesn't seem to be any "cons" to "Continue Toner" mode; I don't need the printer to tell me when the toner is running low, I can tell by looking at the printed sheets.
