My daughter's feet are in a period of constant growth and we keep buying new tennis shoes and won't overspend. This is the first pair of New Balance we've tried after checking out Asics (had serious odor issues), Saucony (better when the kids were younger but the sock wore out quickly with older kids), Stride Rite (sizing issues and straps broke), Puma (very expensive for older kids) and mass market brands that were cute but not very high quality. My daughter wore them the first two weeks of school and the last week while walking Disney and they still look brand new with no odor issues. I was surprised as other branded shoes tend to deteriorate fairly quickly. She says they are very comfortable and easy for her to put on and take off. They look great too and we haven't had any issues with the smell. I think we've found our brand for the next couples. I would recommend. They are true to size; However, I bought a half size larger than her current size to give her room to grow and make her last a bit longer. I usually buy shoes a half size larger because I've found that some popular brands of children's shoes run small, but that's not the case with New Balance.
