My four cats eat these pieces. One of them is very shy, semi-feral, which makes it difficult to take her to the vet for grooming. After 4 years I finally persuaded her to leave (she forgave me the secret trap). She had almost no plaque or gingivitis (after the vet visit she became friendlier and nicer). The other had no dental problems yet. My 8 year old cat lost a tooth due to FORL. Another lost all his fangs to FORL around the age of 16 despite being brushed for half a year, but his brother lost only one tooth at the same age. All of my cats have been bitten daily for most of their lives. So bites probably won't prevent FORL.
