I really love these boots. Very nice leather, high quality, durable and incredibly comfortable. I have a wide arch and a narrow heel and they fit very well. I bought WIDE based on other calf size reviews. My calves aren't big - I'm athletic, but slim without chicken feet - only 15 inches and I can guarantee regular boots wouldn't rip. The only problem I have with these boots is that they smell disgusting. fizzy with something that smells like rotten onions mixed with dog urine. This is seriously gross. I spent a week in my house cleaning all sorts of things, cleaning carpets, mopping the walls and mopping the floors, thinking that my dog had written somewhere and that there was nothing in my house, it was my boots. I put them in my gear room because I was riding and now my gear room smells like this disgusting stench. I have to keep them in the barn passage where there is a lot of air. cycle, but they will probably mold because I live in a human climate :-( it's really very terrible because otherwise they are perfect shoes for everyday life
