My granddaughter loves to play with it, but an adult MUST be present for a 3 year old. She's had several "tight calls," such as when she almost got her head stuck in the confinement at the top of the dome. We envision her in this position relaxing her entire body weight as she attempts to descend. So here the adult has to "guide” the child and show him where to grab the right support bar. It took three of us adults about three hours to put it together. it is quality. It's strong, durable and beautiful. When we first received it, we thought about putting it outside. But if you have a seat, keep it inside. The child will be able to enjoy it at any time of the day and in any weather. I also think it will last longer. Don't worry about rusting on the outer sprinkler bolts. No discoloration of the product from exposure to sunlight. We even added a climbing rope! Our 3 year old loves it. And although the product is advertised for children aged 3-9, our very tall but slim 15 year old boy enjoys climbing the dome with his sister! Heck, her athletic dad even put his full weight on him when he heard he had a 1,000-pound limit. Once your child learns to pace properly, it will become easier for them to manipulate.
