Review on Rapco Horizon LTIBLOX Laptop Interface by John Pound

A must have for any musician or sound engineer

Love this little DI for laptops and small devices. The volume control is very useful for presentations where all the sounds or videos are slightly different in volume. The moderator is fairly easy to use as he or she can anticipate volume dips and spikes and adjust the potentiometer as needed. The cable is a decent length to allow for flexible positioning. The volume slider moves smoothly. The only repair I had to make to this box was tightening the nut on the volume knob. Somehow that has eased over the years. However, it was quick and easy to open and close this thing. I added a right angle neutral plug to mine as I always feel that the plug can easily bend or break when it's straight out of the device. This is the second one I've bought. I noticed that the newer ones have a slightly longer box. It's only half an inch longer, so compactness isn't compromised. The only audio issues I've ever had was when I left this in my car over the summer. After using it, I noticed that the potentiometer oxidized a bit. Use and potty training eliminated this problem. I also have one of these devices attached to my Hercules iPad mount as a DI for my iPad at concerts. I attached it with velcro straps and it fit perfectly. This would allow me some volume control without using the buttons on the iPad, which can be tricky, and makes it easy to move the mic stand around without having to drag the DI across the floor.
