I needed a good basic bench vise to grip the watch case holder and change the battery in the watch. I didn't need anything fancy or expensive that cost $30 or more. As long as the vise was strong, inexpensive, and worked, this would be my ideal. The SE 8436MVC 3-inch Universal Vise might have a fancy name, but it's functional. This vise has a ball joint that allows you to tilt and tilt the vise head in any direction. I needed a specific angle to apply pressure to the back of the watch case and the adjustable vise function was perfect for what I needed to do. Because I applied force at an angle and rotated, the vise moved in the same direction and the table clamp slipped a bit. Be careful not to loosen the ball clamp screw too much. I did this and the cuff fell off. Manufacturer. The versatile desktop vise feels solid and will hopefully hold up over time. It's very handy and I plan to use it for other DIY projects. For less than $20 this is a good buy.
