This is a beautiful piece of glassware. It looks great in our 3 gallon pico and isn't overpowered like I thought it would be. We bought this because our little imp puffer fish got swept along in the current around the aquarium with the last piece we had. It works well with our CO2 diffuser alongside it. The CO2 bubbles circulate well. When the tube is fully lowered there is little surface movement, but as you raise it the surface can change from gentle waves to quite turbulent ones. I would definitely recommend this product for any small tank (5 gallons or less) if you want to prevent overflow.
