Review on Leadrise® Steering Release Adapter Universal by Christopher Kumar

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Because it's a race car. fits steering accessory

This version is surprisingly good! It feels solidly built and locks up nice and tight. It's literally just a clone of the NRG device. Mine had a few stains/scratches on the finish but for $30 I'm not complaining. I paired it with a short NRG hub and deep NRG wheel and mounted it on my GF4 Impreza. I had to change a horn cable on the NRG hub to make it work with the socket (replaced the socket with a male one). I also had to slightly modify the horn button by cutting the small plastic tabs underneath so it could fit flush into the trigger/wheel. (Unless you're totally helpless, you can make it work.) This version even comes with a detachable aluminum grommet to make installing the horn button easier, so you don't have to use the style bolt ring that usually comes with the wheel! My only complaint is that the screw holes on the hub side of the shifter don't line up exactly with the screw holes on the wheel side. So my steering wheel isn't quite straight. It's not that big of a deal, but I have to redo my alignment to get it perfect. So if you're thinking of getting a quick release for your car but aren't quite sure if you're ready to spend money on an NRG part, be sure to give it a try. And if you don't like it, you only lost $30.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
