I wore these gloves while climbing a 1400ft snow gully on a 10 degree day. During various breaks I stuffed my gloves with snow. At the top I wanted to put on my mittens, assuming they would be wet and sweaty like everything else. But after checking the balaclavas I found the gloves were dry and stayed dry all day although new hats got wet etc. I was also able to use the camera for 90 minutes to follow skiers descending Tuckerman Gorge and my hands were not cold to photograph. until my whole body was shaking. I'll still use encased gauntlets a lot in some conditions, but if you're active and need agility for an ax or whatever, this is awesome.
