That's great. BUT!

First, it looks great when installed. I loved it and actually bought it along with a bluetooth OBD2 adapter and a wide angle rear view camera. Installation was fairly easy and straightforward, with the exception of hooking up a rear camera. For some reason, the rear camera input port was marked as CD-IN. I originally plugged it into the video-in jack and it caused the unit to lock up every time I put it in reverse (not entirely sure why). Since there was only one other video input, I connected the reversing camera to the socket labeled CD-IN and lo and behold, a reversing image! Hooray! But that was just the beginning of my struggle. The boot time of the device is approx. 50 seconds. This is the time from turning on the device until the radio starts playing. Ok not too bad I was able to change the logo so at least I get the Toyota logo on boot up but you only get that for about 30 seconds then you get the Android boot logo for another 10 seconds then you Get Android Starting message for another 5-10 seconds. Once downloaded, you have 10 seconds before the radio actually turns on. Once booted up, don't worry, it will automatically switch to radio as long as it receives a radio signal. It should be noted that this radio only has FM, not AM as the post suggests. You get FM1, FM2 and FM3 each giving you 8 different presets. And on top of that, it doesn't show any information about the station, the song being played, nothing, just the frequency. ok no problem Insert the music DVD, let the loading process go through, music on, car off, get back in, back to the radio. OK, press the DVD button, everything will restart. Excellent! Let's try the navigation. Press the Navi button, Google Maps will load. Wait, it's still loading. Got GPS (note it took me a few minutes to even get to the sat nav). The map starts to load, looks like it has my GPS fix. and he lost my gps signal. He thinks I'm on the block. The maps aren't fully loaded yet, so apparently I'm going on the plane (and yes I downloaded the offline map data shortly after installing the radio, it connected to my home wifi). Let's try OBD2. I bought Torque Pro, installed it via Play Market, connected the OBD2 adapter and am trying to sync. no bluetooth in settings. So how do I connect to Bluetooth?!? Search a bit on the web, there is an option for OBD2, click on it, click on the little magnifying glass, here is my OBD2 adapter. Connect, open Torque Pro. well at least it works! Everything you need right on the screen. Until I parked the car. Come back to the car after a while, start it, wait for it to boot up, I need to restore permissions to the application. Why are permissions not saved? I've started installing apps but haven't completed setup. Most non-factory apps seem to work just fine, although the load time sucks. I'll definitely give it some more time, there's no point in paying to remove it and install another one as that requires removing most of the center console.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some small things
