This is a medium duty scraper as the head is solid die-cast metal and the handle is traditional plastic, probably HDPE. (The handle is a round barrel that you hold on to.) I would never fit this scraper to the end of a 5ft pole and expect to use it to scrape vinyl off old floors, the handle doesn't last longer than one few minutes under that kind of pressure and torque. Other Cons: They could have cast model # or part # in the head to make it easier to find replacement blades, but they decided against it. Although the head is a strong, dense metal that gives good weight and balance, it's still only die-cast, probably aluminum, and even if it were attached to a metal handle, it wouldn't be as strong. Die cast is not nearly as strong and durable as wrought metal. The blade guard is adequate when fully in place, but it's not easy to remove and worse, it's so difficult to put on that there's a serious risk. cut your hand deeply if you're not careful.
