Review on AMY6 Magnetic Tester by General Tools in Blue Color by Seth Damain

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It's a very poorly designed tool

So it works. It will tell you if the magnetic field is north or south. Other than that, it's designed horribly. Everything in it is simple. stupid.1. No instructions 2. The packaging is bad. Batteries are supplied in sealed blister packs. You know what anti-theft super hard plastic displays for small electronics are made of. Except they are not exposed. You don't need 5 or 10 minutes of tedious cutting at different angles with electronic cutters to get to your batteries. Batteries included with the new product.3. Speaking of batteries, the battery compartment is under a pocket clip. This is not a moving clip. Lift it up to get to the battery door and you'll break it, so you'll have to remove the entire end of the device, which is held in place by a ridiculously small screw. So have a jeweler's screwdriver handy and do this over the white sheet so you can find it if you drop it. It's like running a clock. God.4. Once you disassemble it you will see how badly everything is made. But I expected that because it's cheap Chinese junk. However, I swear they did their best to make it so bad. Once you put everything back together it will have a piezo. So when you encounter a magnetic field, it yells at you with a piercing, high-pitched tone. For example, a bright LED next to N or S is not enough, you should make a loud uncomfortable noise. There is literally NO reason for this other than to drain the batteries faster. So yes. It gets stars because now I can tell N from S on the magnet. But do yourself a favor and buy something else. This one is just terribly designed.

Pros
  • Our tool has a useful use for finding the north and south poles of magnetic fields
Cons
  • I don't remember
