Review on Leofoto LN-404C Massive Carbon Fiber Tripod: Perfect for Bowl Compatible Systems by Richard Payne

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A tripod that can handle any terrain!

The Leofoto LN-404C tripod is a real monster! The legs are 40mm thick at the top, 12mm thicker than my Desmond 432 (2 series tripod) and 71 inches long. I can almost walk under a tripod and I'm 5'10". When folded it's 28". The base is very wide and my Desmond DLOW-55 looks small on it. The max load is 110 pounds! Just awesome. The legs stand up Made of 10x carbon fiber fabric and the body and latches are machined aluminum, the total weight of the tripod is 7.5 lbs. It comes with a carrying case, multiple tools and a dish adapter. Enough room in the bag for a ball head and a few other items Photo opportunities especially with the included 75mm dish adapter The base also has a hook on the bottom to attach your backpack or sandbags to it I couldn't imagine anyone using this tripod needing more weight but it does is there when you need it there is also a built in level which is nice the only thing i don't like so far is the brown elastic on the leg i wish it was black like the leg locks. The Gitzo version is $1200 and I know it's the best tripod brand, but at a third of the price it's a steal and worth a try. This is the ideal tripod for large lenses used with stabilizers. I can't wait to try it and all I have to say is WOW!

Pros
  • Compatible with Gitzo System 5
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
