When I bought the filters I knew I needed a high performance canister filter for my new 90 gallon tank. I had some luck (well, literally and figuratively, it sucked) with another brand that was said to be good for 50-100 gallons. So I decided to go bigger and took this one. I noticed that several reviewers said they broke the clips. So when I first went to clean and the clips wouldn't open them, I didn't push them too hard. I got smarter and thought let's try a screwdriver. and yes, you MUST take a large screwdriver, insert it into the seam from all sides and twist to loosen. It's almost like there's a vacuum. Well, why neither the reviewers nor the instructions could tell any of us is beyond me. But it worked. So be careful when you open the canister for the first time after it has run. Every time you use a big screwdriver and have to pry it open until it comes loose. So no broken clips. I have to say that having made an outboard filter my whole life I was amazed that the "water polish" gasket is so flimsy. I can throw a carbon/cleaning pad in most of my outdoor outboard filters and leave them on for a while past the recommended time and they do a great job. Crystal clear water until cleaning time is overdue. This pad is so thin that it fills up in a couple of weeks. At least that's my experience. I will add this disclaimer. I'm new to the world of giant tanks so maybe this is my fault. overfeeding? Are you expecting too much? Etc. But still be warned that this polishing pad will clog without much effort. And there is only one in the filter stages. I love that it moves large amounts of water, is quiet and has so many biofilters, but a little more attention to the 'water purification' aspect and a biofiltration stage would have been nice. was cool. I'm still tweaking and hope it gets better in the future. hp don't care about youtube. it's all the people looking at it before they've even cleaned it. Serious? Like, it cleans the water well. great---what about cleaning, difficulty removing the top cover and how long does it take before cleaning is required? These reviewers only want monetization.
