Updated: Will Not Deliver (Canon 5D MK III Raw Video)

UPDATED: When I originally posted the review below I received no response from Komputerbay via email or when I tried to contact them by phone. Before I sent the postcard back I decided to call back and when I got an answer things got a lot better. Here is my update. After using the ML RAW nightly builds of July 22nd and following the steps outlined to me over the phone with Komputerbay support; I was very happy to report that I had no dropped frames, with the following exceptions which I should point out are not card errors but the nature of advanced software (which is still amazing), just FYI: if there is less than 1GB free space on the card or when I start recording in the menu. -------- I started shooting in ML RAW with the 5D Mark III in mid-June. I have tested SanDisk Extreme Pro cards and Lexar 1000x cards. Both worked very well, and because of the faster write speeds, I bought a couple of limited-capacity Lexar 1000x cards instead of the San Disk Extreme Pro. I bought lower capacity cards hoping that faster CF cards would eventually come down in price. It wasn't until KomputerBay released their 1050x cards that I thought I'd give them a try as they didn't seem to have any write capability before. the speed or consistency required for ML RAW. After three days of shooting with the new KomputerBay 128GB 1050x card I am disappointed. It is clear that it does not work as advertised. For write speeds below 75Mbps, this card works well, but there will still be some downsides. More importantly, you'll often run into a few dropped frames with anything above that (so if you're looking to capture 1920 x 1080 24fps or higher, this card is NOT for you). Advertises 100MB/s write speed <--- not true for the card I just received; In fact, I wasn't able to capture consecutive clips without dropping frames when shooting in 1080p. This has never happened with my Lexar 1000x cards, even when I tested the San Disk Extreme Pro cards. Maybe I have a bad copy? I am happy to try my luck with a replacement; However, after contacting customer service, they only let me return the item for a refund. Until there is more consistency with this company's products I cannot recommend buying anything from them. This isn't about getting what you pay for, it's about false advertising and misrepresentations of the product. It is better to invest your time and money in a card from a well-known brand that you can rely on.
