Works great. I got tired of these twists and turns to adjust the beard trimmers as they sometimes switched to a different setting and mainly because they delivered an uneven cut. This worked perfectly to give a nice straight beard. I haven't learned how to fade yet and I probably won't even try. I didn't release it, but it's been connected ever since. I was hoping I could use this to clean my beard instead of a wet shave, but it doesn't cut close enough and even after zero clearance it won't replace a regular razor. disinfectant. At first I had a lot of redness and after I started cleaning after EVERY use it went away. Still not a replacement for a razor, but if you have a nice thick beard and want it to look clean, this is great. Update: 2 years later I still use it to trim my beard, I usually keep it at 1/4" or 1/8" depending on the season. I didn't do blade clearance at first, but that was too close. I moved it back a bit and it suits my skin/beard better. While it doesn't replace a regular wet shave, I can now conveniently use it to clean and contour my beard instead of shaving. It becomes a chore: trimming one day, wet shaving the next, and scissors the third day. I will say sanitizer is a must, I had a bad razor burn before I started cleaning it after each use. I have blue Andis liquid, dip it in and wipe off the excess with a paper towel before putting it in the drawer. My only complaint is that the disinfectant coats the entire block and makes it greasy. It doesn't matter if I store it blade down, wipe it down with a damp cloth, or use a minimal amount of cleaning fluid. It's just part of what is. It can't all be perfect, but it's close. I went back to Amazon and looked for new blade options but didn't see anything. I have a very thick beard. Now that I'm using it more for shaving, the blade that came with it doesn't quite work anymore. It's great for trimming beards, but doesn't work evenly without a guard.
