I really wanted to love these lamps but my closet doesn't have motion detection. If I set them to "auto" they just stay on. I tried playing around with the sensors, first pointing them at the closet and then at the room. One of them will reach the timeout point, only to return immediately. The other just stays. I think the sensors think my clothes are moving? I am so disappointed. I LOVE the concept of these lights. If I take them out of the closet and put them face up in the room, they work as intended. Maybe my closet is too small? But for that I need light there at all! I bought them specifically for the motion detection function. I have to constantly turn them to the "off" position and then take them out of the closet and flip the switch to the "on" position when I need to look. However, the first time I tried this I accidentally knocked the flashlight onto the floor (because it was dark and because the magnet barely held it) and then fumbled around on the floor in the dark to find a bright one. DOH! I can get it to work if I'm VERY careful not to bang them against the wall and if I pull them out to turn them on and off. But a work light with a motion sensor is the best solution.
