I installed these boxes around some speakers in my basement ceiling hoping to reduce the amount of sound getting up to the first floor. above them. They seem to have helped a bit, but I'm not sure the difference these boxes made was worth the price. If you do decide to try them out, be aware that they are MUCH easier to place if you don't already have your computer speakers installed! If your speakers are already installed these boxes can still be installed, but this may require some finesse and fiddling depending on how close your speakers are to ceiling joists and other structures. If you have the option, make sure you install the speakers with a few inches of space around them so you have enough room to fit this box around the speaker. These boxes fit a wide variety of speaker diameters: you simply cut a round hole in the box to fit any size of your speakers. The box is about 12 inches wide and you can cut a round hole to almost that width, so I'd say it will safely accommodate speakers up to 10 inches in diameter. I wouldn't buy them again given the modest (at best) difference.
