If you have a cockatiel or similar size bird, please be careful with this product. Around the same time my bird was injured by this product, I discovered a major design flaw: the cockatiel's head was just the right size to get stuck in the slats between the wooden dowels. In my bird's case, he was trying to get a ball that had fallen between the bars and stuck his head. He immediately screamed and panicked. Luckily I was in the room and was able to get him out before he got seriously hurt. If I hadn't been there he could have been badly injured or even suffocated. This is just a warning to anyone whose birds are the same size. REMOVE WOODEN HAIRPIN. The feeder works great without dowels. You only need a small screwdriver to remove the two screws on each side. That major design flaw aside, and now that I've removed the dowel, these feeders suit me well. However, I cannot in good conscience give this product a higher rating as I know this defect is present.
