Review on ๐Ÿบ Efficient Fastferment 7.9 gal Plastic Conical Fermenter: Floor Stand & Wall Mount Included by Danny Trapanese

Here it is ladies and gentlemen

I will never brew in bottles and pots again. FastFerment is the real deal! I have two of these now and they allow for painless bottling with no sediment getting into the beer. As a result, many reviewers complain about leaks. Yes, it can leak, unlike the bottle. While I think this is an amazing product, the plastic production is average. There may be some burrs and this is clearly to keep costs to a minimum. The fermenter is actually two halves that have been soldered together leaving a small seam around everything including the threads. It's not really a problem if you sand down any burrs and screw the pieces on and off a few times before leaving. Use lots of tape! (included) Always do a few test runs with water to check for leaks! I promise you, this beer won't leak anywhere if you test it thoroughly first. Leave it with water for a few hours and if it doesn't leak, you're done. Don't be discouraged if it leaks while testing! Just unscrew the leaking part, replace the tape and try again. You will get it! Some people don't like that plastic is opaque. I don't mind, especially since it's enough to block out ambient light, although I'm tempted to cut a small window in the lid. But really, if you have a really bright flashlight, you can shine it to see what's going on. The advantage of this type of plastic is that, unlike most transparent plastics, it is not brittle, so there are many ways to modify it without much risk of serious damage. The disadvantage of this is that small pieces of plastic can be easily scraped off. This can be avoided by lightly sanding the inside and removing burrs during initial assembly and using plastic (non-metal) scouring pads when cleaning. After these steps, I'll never accidentally get into my beer again. However, I recommend purchasing a built-in strainer (available cheaply on Amazon). Definitely not critical. You don't need it, but it's the added assurance that part of something doesn't end up in your final product. That's how it really is! I am very happy with it. By the way, if you want to make your beer brewing experience even easier, get a Cornelius keg! It's much, much easier than bottling. Bottling a small batch isn't too bad, but try 7.5 gallons! What a headache. Just grab a barrel!
