We have 3 or 4 of these kettles running at the moment. There are many more expensive models with the same characteristics. All wear out over time and many break immediately. The warranty for this model is 1 year and lasted exactly 2 years. It was about the same duration as our exact same model before it. So it's a pretty good value. The pot itself is very nice, attractive and easy to use. It is made of stainless steel, free of water-polluting plastic (like models with a transparent plastic window!). The on/off switch is conveniently located on the handle. The auto shut off works great: brings the water to a boil and then shuts off. It sits on a flat pad that plugs into a wall outlet with a 2ft long enough cable. Like any electrical device, it wears out slowly. Our last one gave a little whistling noise when heated and finally stopped working after about a month. But I wasn't upset at all: it served pretty much exactly 2 years to the date of purchase, and that with a warranty of only 1 year. Also, we use it 3-4 times a day to make tea. This equates to approximately 2500 uses before failure. After looking at many other brands and models and reading all of their crappy reviews, I decided to stick with this one. You can find other makes/models of kettles with a 2 year guarantee but even these don't seem to do better than the average reviews. So I think this little 1.5 liter kettle is good!
