Review on Immerse into Virtual Reality with the Oculus Rift S PC-Powered Gaming Headset by Laurie Nelson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

MUCH better than the original Oculus

After getting into virtual gaming I bought an Oculus Rift S headset for $540. Unfortunately, the tax was +$40, so I ended up paying just over $580 for the headset. While waiting for the Oculus Rift S to arrive, my brother let me use his original Oculus Rift. I couldn't stay in my Oculus Rift for more than 15 minutes without getting sick. I know most would stop using it at this point, but I kept going. I never get tired of it, but I've always fought; The resolution was so low and the headset was very uncomfortable, especially since I was using glasses in the headset. Another thing I want to mention about the headset is the fact that it had to use sensors; I couldn't turn around in real life or the Oculus Rift remotes would be blocked by my body from the sensors and stop tracking. After days of waiting for the Oculus Rift S headset to arrive, it finally arrived; The packaging was in perfect condition, no defects. I opened the package and started setting it up on my PC. The installation process was extremely quick and I was able to access the game within 5-10 minutes of opening the package. I could move about the room as I pleased; No external sensors were required as the Oculus Rift S has 5 cameras built into the headset. I was able to stay in the headset for about 2+ hours without feeling the slightest bit of nausea or nausea. Most people complain about the frequency drop from 90Hz on the original Rift to 80Hz on the Rift S, but I haven't noticed any difference at all and play at 144Hz and above every day. The resolution has been increased while the "screen door effect" (black lines seen between each pixel) has been greatly reduced, which is obviously a good thing. The Oculus Rift S felt surprisingly more comfortable, especially with glasses, than the original Oculus Rift, and the tension wheel on the back of the Rift S is way better than any method of adjusting the original Rift. I would highly recommend the Rift S to anyone with older models; It is an excellent choice for both large and small playgrounds. Personally, I'm somewhere between a small playground and a big playground, and that works really well with tracking; I personally have never had a problem. The only downside I would say is the fact that the speakers and microphone in the Oculus Rift S are not of the best quality. The Rift S has a headphone jack on the side of the headset, allowing me to use my very good headphones with a short cable plugged into the side of the Rift S to avoid tripping over multiple cables. be concerned with the quality of the mic, because when your headphones are connected to the Rift S headset, you can't connect mics to it. It doesn't matter to me as I personally use a HyperX quadcast mic (it's a USB mic too heavy to plug into the Rift S) so it's much easier to just use the built-in mic when listening to use the Rift S. Use your own headset. 9/10 I recommend this headset to anyone who reads. I would also like to note that all the negative reviews about this headset are defects or non-working features. The headset is guaranteed for 1 year, so any defects can be returned and repaired/replaced. The headset uses a DP display port, which luckily I have.
