I rarely write reviews but I have had such a bad experience with this product that I had to warn others. going on a snuba tour with my son. The camera leaked three (3) feet while submerged in water, destroying the device and any hope of getting photos from the tour. You poke the microphone hole and close the battery cover properly. I guess they got lucky with their cameras because the one I got leaked quickly despite trying so hard to do those things. Or, more likely, they've never really taken them underwater for any length of time in real-world conditions. The day before the Snub trip I took my camera to the beach and played with it in the water and my 9 year old son snapped a few photos. Next thing I know it's stopped working like dead. I got out of the water, dried off and opened the battery compartment. There was water in it, condensation in the glass lens. This thing is said to be water resistant to 33 feet, and it won't last 3! A close examination of the battery compartment flap reveals a defect. The door uses only pressure to stay closed and it doesn't take much finger pressure to close it for it to click 'locked'. Inside the door there is only the smallest rubber lip around the edge, which serves as a water seal. This design is good enough for rain, splashes, probably a quick dive, but not for longer underwater use. especially with the movements, jerks, and thrusts that occur when swimming with an object. I think the water pressure at 33ft requires the door to be closed with a screw. Bad design, bad product and completely false claims about its capabilities. Bottom line: Buy this camera if (1) you have the time and patience to test it out before you need it, in the (probable) case you have to return it, and (2) you WILL NOT be using it underwater. Otherwise, avoid the hassle and frustration of missing capture of special underwater moments.
