Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens, black by Wei Shin Yin ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product at a good price, I advise you to try it.

This lens has a very beautiful picture and excellent sharpness. You fall in love with him immediately. Portraits from it are obtained just fine. There are no complaints about the accuracy and speed of focusing. This is a real classic fifty dollars. But, there are drawbacks. And they are significant. 1) Very strong chromatic aberration. When shooting outdoors, they are very noticeable in contrasting areas of the frame. They are not always possible to remove in the program. Rugged construction. The trunk protruding from the lens is very easy to damage by simply pressing the lens a little (I did damage it). After that, the focus ring will jam and the lens will have to be carried to the service. Must be used with care. Never put the camera lens down. And it’s better to immediately attach a hood to it and never take it off.

Pros
  • Excellent, razor-sharp, starting at f/2.0. Beautiful bokeh. Good contrast and color reproduction. A light weight. Acceptable price.
Cons
  • Strong chromatic aberration. Rugged construction.
