Review on πŸ”§ Efficient and Versatile: Pyrex Smart Essentials 8-Piece Mixing Bowl Set by Rory Kelley

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Love bowls, hate lids

I love the Pyrex brand. Definitely worth the price I paid for these 4 bowls with lids. They are heavy and I will use them for many years to come. The lids fit snugly and keep food fresher longer than in a plastic bowl. The bowls are smaller than I thought they would be, but they still work for my purposes. I mashed it in the largest bowl. No problem. I use the smaller one for omelettes. They are great for storing leftovers. I love that they all fold into the largest bowl for easy storage. Easy to clean. UPDATE: This shell set's rating has been downgraded. I can't get the smell out from under the lids. I made the shrimp ceviche in a large bowl and kept it in a lidded bowl to keep it fresh (which I did), but now I can't get the smell out of the lid. It stinks and I really don't want to use it again lest the smell spread from the lid to the other foods I keep in that bowl. I really didn't expect that from Pyrex. UPDATE: I've had these bowls for a few months now. The lids still stink. I called the manufacturer and they wanted to charge me for new caps plus shipping. I told them it was ridiculous and that I would never buy Pyrex again. They then said they would send me new caps for free, free shipping included. I've had new lids for a few months now and am afraid to use them on anything that has a strong smell. Essentially they have become purely mixing bowls and sometimes serving bowls. Lids are great for anything that doesn't have a strong odor. Don't try to store garlic puree in bowls with closed lids. I'm not lowering my rating because while getting new caps was a hassle, Pyrex did the right thing by sending in new caps to fix the problem.
