bands work fine, but they are very cheap, thin and oily to the touch. I've worked with zip ties for decades and they outshine them all for "cheap". Don't get me wrong, they are great value for money and you get more than most people consume in a lifetime. They work, but not for any significant load. I've done a few pull tests and they hold up, but the material causes them to move and deform, especially when near a heat source. I believe that they are not designed for continuous use as the material will most likely leak over time under stress in the cold. On the other end of the spectrum are adhesive mounts. Made from the same plastic as the ties, the adhesive is great. Beware ! Not as good as 3M VHB over time, but they won't fall off under heavy pressure. If you are looking for ties that will be used in favorable conditions, they will work well. cost, but very cheaply made.
