These fans operate at very low noise levels, but if they are installed in a case to vent air to the outside, you must ensure that the case has a minimum of obstructions, otherwise they will be very strong are loud even at low speeds! If you need a case fan that runs when the case is partially closed, look for a fan with high static pressure - like the Phanteks, which are cheaper but at some speeds when set to flush the case, so much are quieter. According to the description, this fan should manage the balancing act between high static pressure and powerful airflow, but installed as a hood it makes too much noise. On the other hand, the flow direction markings on these fans are tiny. Again, other fans make this much clearer! Overall - disappointed in a Corsair product with high reviews and ratings. I'm hoping to find an alternative use for these two fans.
