I have a 1 year old German Shepherd and while I can match her at running, her endurance/speed far exceeds me at the moment. Even though she is always with me, I felt like she would always have a lot of unused energy no matter what I was doing or how long I was gone. I started looking for dog weights but found dog saddle bags instead. That made sense as I figured I could just put the weights in my saddlebags. Looking around I saw this one, I liked the style/color and decided to buy it. Got it a little over an hour ago. I filled both pockets with fine gravel (only what was on hand, but it turned out to work well). Initially I was a bit worried that adding too much weight to the pockets would tear the seams but it seems to be solidly made and I have no doubt I could add 3x more weight than what I'm doing now without worrying. We just went for a jog, and her usual sprint turned into an easy run. She could still take off as she pleased, but it was obvious that she was more focused on carrying the load than walking around. I started with a light weight out of concern for her, but will probably gain more the second time around. The dishes don't bother her at all either, which is surprising as most I've bought in the past have driven her mad. The straps are easy to adjust and I really like the detachable Velcro saddlebags. Allows me to remove the weight so she can walk without fully unleashing herself. I would gladly pay double for that.
