This product is great for locating switches or testing outlets. I have used the outlet tester on multiple outlets and lighting cords and it has worked well. (I tested wiring the fixture to a screw-in bulb base with sockets.) The key to using the breaker locator properly is using a manual sensitivity control. I read the manual, but practiced it on outlets and their corresponding switches, which I've already labeled. After a few minutes, when I felt like I had the hang of it, I used it to find the switch for the outlet in question. I started on my main panel, the device beeped my sub panel switch, I went to my sub panel and the device finally beeped the precision switch on my sub panel. (I had to readjust the sensitivity on the subpanel, but it only took a few seconds.) If you're looking for a "smart" device or something that will do all the work for you, this isn't the device for you . If you don't mind a little manual labor to get things done, then this device will work for you.
