Review on ๐Ÿ”— 11-speed Steel Connex Link by Cho Screeton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So far, so good. not yet

So far so good. At the time of this review, this is the only 11-speed replacement linkage I'm aware of. Shimano and SRAM do not recommend reusing your link, instead replacing it every time you remove and reinstall the chain. Edit: 2500 miles of clean driving (no rain, no mud) and no issues. A famous cycling podcast reported that they broke one in a mountain bike race. Obviously n=1 so who knows what went wrong. But it's possible that dirt and chain loading could be a problem in mountain bike racing. - Edit: 5000 miles, on the second lap. Ride at pace/best spot and suddenly there is no resistance, you look down and the chain has fallen off. The connex is missing but the rest of the chain looks good. I traced my way and could not find any connection on the road. So I can't tell if it broke or worked on its own. The chain is clean and well lubricated. Luckily I have a fast SRAM connection so I'm back on the road quickly. I liked this link for the reusability, but I think I'll go back to SRAM and just replace it every time I remove the chain.
