This is a stylish, beautiful Christmas tree topper. This is real champagne gold, so gold and silver jewelery go well with it. To open the battery compartment, you have to loosen a tiny screw, but this is very easy and uncomplicated with a tiny Phillips screwdriver. You can wrap the cable around the branch to hide it and the battery. The lanterns are connected with white terminals, but this is almost not noticeable, and when the asterisk is lit, the terminals are not visible at all. There are not lamps at every point of the star (there are 10 of them). The star itself measures approximately 8" x 8" (not counting the wire holder that holds it to the top branch of the tree). My tree is 5-6 feet and it's the perfect size. I plan on adding a few more little lights to mine so each dot has a light (which is why I'm giving a 4 star rating, not 5 stars). Generally beautiful! I am very happy with this purchase.
