WordPress is a free and open source CMS (content management system) based on PHP and MySQL.
This platform is pretty easy to use once you understand how it works. The interface is very easy to navigate and create pages for your content. However, the customer service is horrible. They cannot figure out why their site won't load or if they have any information on how to fix it. I really like the fact that there isn't much maintenance involved when creating websites using this software. When something goes wrong, however, the developers do try to help, but it's difficult because the person answering questions doesn't seem to know anything about programming at all.
Pros
- You only have to know how to add basic HTML code and CSS code to build a page, and then drag & drop from the library of widgets to put things where you want them
- It's easy to make a fully responsive website.
- It's super easy to create custom pages and to edit templates for new sites
Cons
- No one knows what they're doing, and when you ask them how to fix something, they say "we don't know" even though the problem should be very easy to solve.
- In my experience, I've never gotten a response back within 2
