Hard to get it working on a 1997 Honda Accord

So this dash kit is what I consider my first 'failed' install. Problem 1: To install this in a 1997 contract you must use the factory mounting points. The attachment point for this kit turns out to be a bracket that screws into the underside of the "frame". I have the suggested screws and lo and behold. The screws were too long! They actually performed in the frame! I decided to use an angle grinder to grind down the screws so they wouldn't damage the radio when installing it. Good point 1: After the screws are ground down, the bracket aligns properly in chord and you can install it correctly. Problem 2: The frame itself is too narrow for my Pioneer 4100nex. other members have already mentioned this. I tried trimming the innards to try to accommodate my much larger radio which led me to problem 3. Problem 3: Fragile plastic. Unfortunately the plastic was too brittle and cracked when I tried to cut the inside of the frame. You have to trim "a lot" to fit my radio. After trying to work with this piece of junk for 2 hours I ended up with a cracked frame and lots of black parts. I kept the screws. and ordered a Scosche HA1566B (which Amazon says doesn't fit my car but the Scosche site says it does). I'll update my review once Schoche comes out so others at least know there's a viable alternative, at least for the 94-97 chord. as bad as this kit. schoche kit is worse. I'll order another one of those damn things and will "slowly" adjust it to my needs. A note. I think I'll just glue the bottom with sticky glue or something. this should eliminate the pointy screws. the rest of the shave takes #Edit2# after I get the second set. This kit included 2 left mounting arms. Luckily I had hands off my first set. but otherwise it would be a disaster. I had to do a lot more "configuration" to get the kit working than the instructions suggested. but it's a better kit than Scosche HA1566B for Accord (1990-1997) in my opinion, no question. still a lousy set.
