The dress is true to size. A looser fit will produce a longer dress while a tighter fit is going to produce a shorter dress. I bought the multicolor dress and my one complaint would be that the sequence is two-sided. One side will have color while the other side is silver so depending on how the sequence was laying the dress either had color or looked more overall silver which is not really the look I was going for. I am a teacher and I wore the dress to school on my 50th birthday. The kids loved it they thought it was really special!
