What can I say, the transparent lid lets you see if you have any 'hidden' leftovers before dumping them in the landfill or, worse, in your garden. Why do I put the pan just in case (once the valve leaks). As for the RV, I suppose you need at least one of these in your dumpster/honeybin arsenal. The only downside is the price - $12 for a lightweight piece of plastic is way too much considering the cost of production and the acceptable markup - just another case of the manufacturer taking advantage of the consumer. The clear plastic pellets used to make them cost about $2.10 a pound. And the molding and labor costs are pretty hard to measure in unit prices. However, you cannot do it in your garage.
