Stop sticking product stickers on the inside of the transparent lid!

Overall a very good product. Two areas where there is room for improvement: 1. Only two bayonet latches compared to the usual 4 on these types of caps and 2. They put product label stickers on the inside of the cap where of course they block your view so they basically do that Target hit transparent cover. They are also not easy to remove with a fingernail. I had to use a heat gun (a hair dryer would work too) and even some acetone to remove the rest of the sticker adhesive.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Great idea but bad design.

When I bought this case I thought it was the best thing since it was cut. A cap that indicated if there was liquid in the tube before I removed the cap. Sometimes you get extra mucus when you empty your black and gray tank that you're not expecting, so it's good to know there's some. No surprises! I have only used this cover 3 times and one of the retaining gears broke. I really expected it to last a lot longer than it did. It's a great idea, but I wish they would make it more durable.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Fragile link blades break easily

This cap needs 4 link blades, not 2. It's just that 2 blades put too much strain on them when linking. As other reviewers note, the slight strain of rotating the lid broke one of the two blades. The remaining blade does not hold the lid securely in place. On my very first hike with this clear cover, I connected a drain hose to a drain valve. Disappointed to see the cap was already loose due to the lack of a blade. I don't know why Valterra uses 4 blades on their black lid (yes!) but only 2…

Expensive but works

What can I say, the transparent lid lets you see if you have any 'hidden' leftovers before dumping them in the landfill or, worse, in your garden. Why do I put the pan just in case (once the valve leaks). As for the RV, I suppose you need at least one of these in your dumpster/honeybin arsenal. The only downside is the price - $12 for a lightweight piece of plastic is way too much considering the cost of production and the acceptable markup - just another case of the manufacturer taking…
