If you've installed lighting fixtures before, this shouldn't be a huge hassle, but if you're a beginner: ignore the instructions, they're rubbish. You cannot connect the cables (listed as step 2) until you have assembled the hood, lower arm, fascia, and sockets (listed as step 3) and fully routed the wiring. I also suggest attaching the nipple for the glass lampshade and checking that it is positioned correctly so the nut is tight (but postpone installing the lamps and glass until the rest of the fixture is connected and secured to the ceiling) . Judging by the crap guide, this is a pretty good light. It is securely packed in a foam insert in a glass box in a cardboard envelope. I noticed mine was a bit out of round when I attached the glass, but it fitted without too much trouble.
